5-0 out of 5 stars Good frame, good value, works as expected, November 8, 2009
The Pandigital PAN7000DW 7" digital photo frame is the best digital photo frame I've found yet. I've purchased 4 other models in different sizes from Axion, Phillps, Smartparts, and Opteka. All of these others had various issues (16x9 when I wanted 4x3, didn't always start picture show automatically, buggy software).

The PAN7000DW is reasonably priced (about $65 from Amazon as of 11/9/2009) as compared to the Sony models which are all much more expensive.

The PAN7000DW display is excellent -- showing 800x600 pictures crisply and vividly. The software is very good with a reasonable user interface and useful options. I like displaying my photos using their original dimensions (the optimized view attempts to maximize the amount of display used but will chop off edges to accomplish this) - you can pick the view mode you want.

The frame accurately shows the EXIF photo date/time if you want to display it. It will also optionally show the current time. It has a nice calendar w/ picture view as well as the normal full frame photo view. And it seems to show ALL your photos eventually (I had a strange problem with an Opteka frame not showing all the photos, only a subset). The remote is small and is held on the back of the frame by a magnet. The remote works well (some remotes I've used have buttons that are hard to press or control). The menu structure (frame software) is logical and well arranged.

The clock functionality and auto turn on/off functionality is useful if you have power available to your frame at all times. However, I've hooked my frame up to a motion sensing power strip in my office and the time/date gets whacked when the sensor shuts off for the weekend (the time/date seem to survive for a few minutes or hours without power but not over a weekend). So if you use your frame with a motion sensing powerstrip, forget using the clock/calendar feature.

As I've discovered with many photo frames, if you want to display pictures in a particular order, they must exist in flash memory written down in that order - this is not a visible ordering - it does not depend on file name or file creation time. If you start with a totally empty flash card (or internal frame memory) then it will be the order in which the files are copied to the memory device. Macintosh and Windows file copy routines are the fastest way to copy files but the order in which copying takes place is not under your control if you move a large number of files all at the same time - the operating system parallelizes the copying for speed but this places the pictures in different physical memory order. It is too bad that most photo frames do not allow you to display in creation date order or EXIF date order or even file name order.

The best way to lay down the photos in sequence is to start with an empty flash device. Then copy the files either one by one by hand or using an automated method that copies files only one at a time. A cmd file on Windows that can do this is like:
    -------
    dir /b /od>c:\junk.txt
    for /f "delims=*" %%i in (c:\junk.txt) do copy "%%i" f:\
    -------
[...] (you need to change this script to fit your exact situation)

Alternatively you can use Photoshop Elements or some other photo management tool to export photos in sequence directly to a memory card or your picture frame.

Hopefully future photo frames will become a bit more intelligent and allow you to pick your display order.

Overall I've found the PAN7000DW to be a good value and to work as you would expect.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for pictures, has shortcomings, November 25, 2009
I bought the Pandigital PAN7000DW so that I could load it up with pictures and videos of my new son and send it to my grandmother. After a few hours dealing with it (I'm very experienced with computers and electronic gadgets), here's my take:

    - I like the look of the frame (classic looking) and the screen is bright and crisp.
    - I could not get any video files to work. The documentation says it plays motion jpeg AVIs, and I tried many conversion options on my Mac using MPEG Streamclip and could not get it to work.
    - Navigating the menus is a pain using the built-in buttons, so at first glance you're glad they included a remote...except the remote only registers about every 3rd button click, so you're constantly over clicking.
    - The UI is pretty slow and lags your button presses.

All that said, it'll do what I want it to do. I've loaded it with 223 pictures at 1280x720 resolution, and it only takes up 34MB of the 1GB internal memory.

3-0 out of 5 stars Meh. The user interface of these digital picture frames is annoying., November 30, 2009
Right after I purchased a digital picture frame (about to become my Mom's 90th birthday present), the Pandigital PAN7000DW 7-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Black), I found an offer from Amazon Vine for a similar item, Smartparts SP72 7-Inch Digital Picture Wood Frame with Beige Matting (Espresso). Oh well -- it gave me the opportunity to compare-and-contrast the two frames (which are similarly priced). *I* didn't know which of these gizmos was best for the purpose, and I dare say you're just as unsure, so maybe my experience can help you.

The short summary: both these frames do what they claim to: They display your photos. But neither of them will give you a heartwarming feeling. The ideas are sound; the implementation kind of stinks. Perhaps more-expensive units have a better user interface, but these two frames are somewhat disappointing.

Let's start with the positives. The picture frames both have a 7" display, which is big enough for sitting on a desk or coffee table, and the displays are bright and clear. You do need a power cable, which might limit where you set up the frame; I can't see hanging them on a wall. The wood frame on the Smartparts is slightly nicer than the Pandigital, but both are reasonably attractive. The basic setup is extremely simple: stuff an SD memory card into the frame and turn it on.

A 2GB card holds 1000+ photos, depending on image resolution. That's a LOT of pictures, even when putting together a huge "this is your life" collection as we did for Mom. I bought a 4GB card along with the Pandigital, which would hold about 5,000 photos, and I could have saved a few bucks.

One thing that isn't clear from the documentation is that you don't HAVE to use an SD card. Both units have their own on-board memory that lets you add a decent number of pictures. You'll need to use the USB connection to get to that memory (and I never DID figure out how to delete their sample photos, grrr); more on that USB connection in a moment.

The Pandigital frame will also play MP3s, if you like. I didn't explore that feature because (a) my Mom's almost deaf and would never use it and (b) there are probably better options for playing music. The Pandigital can also be used as a clock and calendar, though I'm "eh" on that option myself; perhaps you care.

Other options are more important, I think. The Smartparts frame has an option for showing multiple pictures at a time (photo of mom on the left, then Pop's picture on the right, then fade to a third picture to replace Mom's photo). It really does look good, except that a 7" frame is too small to show most photos in enough detail to bother with this. Depending on how you use the frame, though, this feature could be useful. (Maybe for advertising purposes, such as in a realtor's front window, where the detail is a bit less important?)

Both frames have a USB connection, so you can plug them into your computer (mine's a Mac) and easily transfer JPG files to the frame or to the SD card you already stuffed into it. (That's a good thing, in the case of the Smartparts frame, since the card is a real pain to remove.) On the plus side, it means that I could choose a photo in iPhoto and export directly to the unit. On the downside, the Smartparts USB connection was very flaky; it would disconnect itself randomly -- usually in the middle of a file transfer. I used colorful curse words. You're probably best off to use whichever SD-card reader you already use to connect with your PC.

But truly the worst thing about these frames is a terrible, awful user interface for adjusting settings and for interacting with the unit. Both let you control the slideshow from buttons on the top or back of the unit. The Pandigital's are on top, which is slightly more convenient, but both are hard to read without a bright light nearby. The Pandigital also has a remote which (nicely) has a magnetic spot to hold it to the back of the unit. However, I give Mom about 20 minutes before she manages to lose it; it has the right dimensions to be a dandy cat toy, so I'm not upset that the Smartparts unit (which I'm keeping for myself, in case that's not obvious) doesn't have one. Plus, the remote's controls are sticky enough that it takes a few button-whacks to get the frame's attention.

Anyway, they both work with "OK" and "MENU" sort of buttons, and then up/down/right/left arrows to make selections. But the menu design is so poor that it's never clear when you want a right-arrow or a down one. (I never did get the clock set correctly on the Pandigital. Perhaps more detail was in its documentation, but I can't tell you. Other than a "getting started" flyer, the doc is on one of those tiny mini-discs which I feared would disappear into the maw of my iMac's drive. The Smartparts printed documentation is a little more extensive, but not much; a missing CD promised a Windows app, but I wasn't going to use it anyhow.)

Please note that you WILL need to mess with the settings. For one thing, the Smartparts frame seems to need to be told EVERY TIME to show pictures from the SD Card rather than from its own memory. The default time selection to show each photo (5 seconds) is probably too fast for what you prefer, one both units. (The Smartparts has slow/regular/fast; the Pandigital unit has specific time measurements, ranging from 5 seconds to one day.) Most irritatingly, both frames assume you want to choose the "optimal" display setting (well it does SOUND like what you want, right?). However, that actually means, "Make sure the photo touches the right-and-left edges of the frame, even if it means I chop off the heads of the people in the picture." The Pandigital unit automatically shifts the photo display based on whether you arrange it narrow side up or wide side up, but I can't see moving it around that much.

Despite our trained expectation of 5x7 photos, I came to the conclusion that these gizmos ought to be square to accommodate both horizontal and vertical photos. In reality, if I were to get serious about displaying the photos, I'd crop the images to make them get along with the gizmos' formatting; I wasn't about to do that with the 850 images I set up for Mom.

Bottom line: Both of these digital picture frames will get the job done. One isn't significantly better than the other, so I can't tell you to choose the Pandigital over the Smartparts or vice versa. No matter which you choose, though, expect to spend some time cussing before you finish with the setup.

5-0 out of 5 stars great deal!, November 29, 2009
    Hello-

I bought this frame after reading tons of reviews. I bought it intending to give it as a gift to someone who has a digital camera but who is not a "computer" person and doesn't even own a computer! I figured this would be a great way for him to enjoy his photos without having to always make prints or have to buy a computer.

Purchasing through Amazon was wonderfully simple (THANK YOU!). Delivery was fast and the price was a real bargain at $65.00. I opened the box, plugged the frame into the wall outlet and began playing with the menus (I did not read the instructions). It took me awhile to remember the menu routes (had to write the progressions down), but finally figured it out well enough to delete the calendar and time...displaying just the images...and no cheesy slideshow transitions. The frame has a very high quality style and appearance, and in my opinion it looks classier when the slideshow transitions are kept plain and simple. I played around with this prior to presenting the gift so as to become familiar with it and see if I wanted to buy a couple more...including one for myself. I also needed to know the operation of the frame because I would probably become the "technical support" person if needed. It took awhile to get familiar with the menus.

The images look great, BUT you MUST look at them from straight on or else the photos look washed out if viewed from above and the side, or too dark if viewed from below. This really bothered me, but I guess there are simply limitations to these devices. I ended up doing a batch conversion (using irfanview) to darken the images so they looked better (darker) in the frame when viewed from slightly above. I went 0.80 gamma (vs 1.00) and it helped a lot. A change in brightness and contrast was also needed for some photos to look good. You can run a slideshow directly from your SD media card or from the internal memory of the frame (1GB) but you won't be able to get vertical shots from your SD card to appear vertically in the slideshow unless you download the photos into the internal memory first, then they can be "rotated" when imported into the internal memory. You can select whether you want the slideshow to run from the SD card or the internal memory. A previous reviewer said he was unable to watch a video on the frame. I had no such problem...the video ran ok. There is a headphone jack, but no built in speaker (at least I wasn't getting any sound).

Anyhow, I was impressed enough with the quality and price of this frame to give this as a gift to someone who has no other means of enjoying his photos than either making prints or showing them on the screen of his digital camera. If you give this to someone, make sure they are not intimidated by menus within menus and not easily frustrated by technology (if I gave this to my Mom it would give her an anxiety attack trying to figure it out!).

I like this product a lot and may get one for myself. I do not regret this purchase and feel it is well worth the money for anyone looking to buy a high quality digital picture frame. Thank you. Carl

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisified, July 6, 2010
I wanted to write this review to let readers be aware that a lot of the concerns I read in other reviews aren't concerns--you can get rid of the pictures that come with the frame, you can rotate the pictures, and you can have the pictures come up in random order. I have been very pleased with this product and I almost let the above concerns prevent me from buying it. It is well worth the money and easy to use. My wife and I love it!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid this one..., December 28, 2009
I'd recommend avoiding PanDigital's picture frames. I just bought the 7" at Macy's and have wasted a full day and a half with it. I don't seem to be alone with my problems... search fixya, cnet, and other sites and you'll find two common problem reports ... can't transfer more than a couple hundred files (regardless of overall size) and that the display dies after a few months. I haven't had it long enough to experience the 2nd one but I definitely have the 1st. The basic problem is that it won't load anything more than about 100 pictures (regardless of the size of the image files). I've resized everything down to ~200kb each... but still no go. I'm only using about 20mb out of the 1gb but it refuses to load any more. In addition, many times I'll get a transfer error when trying to transfer more than about 20 pictures at a time. This is a USB device, so that's a bit odd.

One other small annoyance even if this had been working perfectly... the frame stand (the part that sticks out at the back to prop up the frame) doesn't extend far enough, so the weight of the frame causes it to slip back under (i.e., the frame falls on its back) unless you're really careful. That's such a no-brainer item in a picture frame that everything else is suspect for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the Price, June 22, 2009
I wanted a digital frame that is highly rated and it did not fail my expectations. The pictures are vivid and it's very easy to use. The only thing I wished it came with for the price is a buit-in battery that can be re-charged so you don't have to keep it plugged at all times.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Picture Frame but not 7 inches, November 28, 2009
The frame is easy to use, easy to set up and the picture quality is great. It is everything I expected except one thing...the screen is 7 inches but the actual picture view is only 5 3/4 inches. If I had known that up front, I would have purchased a bigger frame.

    1-0 out of 5 stars only lasts a month, December 14, 2009
We have replaced a Pandigital frame 3X (only because the merchant took pity on us and exchanged) Each time the frame stopped working after only 3-4 weeks! Do not buy this brand! The company was no help at all and will not stand behind their product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wireless and Online, November 21, 2009
In looking for a digital picture frame, I needed one that could wirelessly connect to the Internet and pull down photos automatically. I also didn't want to spend more than $100 to accomplish this goal. Pan Digital's frames say they are wireless, but in reading reviews (and looking at their website) you get the feeling it doesn't work. I'm writing this review to say it does work, and well!

I opened the frame up about 5 minutes ago, and it is right now showing pictures from the internet via the Pan Digital Wifi adapter. It was very straight forward and easy to setup, the only thing that is annoying is the "keyboard" to enter the passwords is a cellphone style, which is very slow with the IR remote's arrow buttons (if the remote had numbers instead of arrows all would be great). The printed manual that came with the frame appears very detailed, but I didn't even look at it till just now.

For those that are wondering, you can set up accounts with FrameIt, Snapfish, and Picasa, plus for each service you can pull photos from two accounts. It can also get photos from a PC that is also connected to your home network.

I was not familiar with Microsoft's FrameIt site, started playing with it. It's actually an RSS feed made specifically for digital frames that can display a lot of information in addition to pictures. It can link into Picasa and Facebook and a bunch of other services, but there are some limitations like FrameIt->Picasa only shows Picasa's public photos, where-as when you connect directly to Picasa you can choose any album. Still, there is a LOT of power and customization in FrameIt.

From all appearances, this frame works well with the internet and will be exactly what I was looking for! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful looking frame, September 14, 2009
I wanted a simple, clean looking photo frame for my home office and this fit the purpose really well. The frame came very quickly after ordering and was very well packaged for shipping. The frame is well made and the glossy front side gives it an expensive look. The picture quality is good - nice color, bright screen, and no flickering. The resolution is average for a 7-inch photo frame, which is to say that photographs look fine when viewed normally, but not a lot of detail if you get in close and look at it from say 6 inches away.

In all a very satisfying purchase: good quality, beautiful design, the price is right, and performance is at least as good or above normal expectations.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but does not have built-in memory - product description needs updating, November 24, 2010
We recently bought it as a gift for our friends. The displayed pictures look nice and the photo frame, overall, is okay for the price. Our only disappointment is that the product we received does not have a built-in memory for 15 photos, as indicated in the Features and Specifications. We sent an email to Micca Customer Support and they were fast to respond. We were informed that "the current M701 no longer has the built-in slots for 15 pictures" and that they need to update the product description. They also offered to reimburse us if we return the product; however, we have already given it to our friends. Again, overall, the photo frame is okay but potential buyers should know about this missing feature. The product description needs to be updated asap!

Didn't find the instructions very helpful but managed to figure out enough to make it work. I bought the same frame with MP3 last year for my house so this year in order to save money I just got the simple one for my office. It looks great!

I got this for my mother and she loves it. Just plugs in her usb flash drive after the setup and now she gets to see all those pics that have been hiding on her PC.

    3-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre, December 8, 2010
Picked this up as an gift for the grandparents. Didn't want to spend a ton and I guess I got what I paid for in that respect. It works and I shouldn't complain having gone for the bargain rather than features, but I'm pretty disappointed in the resolution. I guess in the age of iPads and laptops everywhere, I figured the LCD resolution bit would have trickled down to this.

Also, in my quick installation of photos, I didn't seem to find any on-board memory or storage capacity though I could have sworn that I read that it at least had some (15 fav pics?). Had to donate a USB flash drive to the cause, though it does take SD cards as well...just didn't have one lying around.

All in all, there are probably better models to buy and if I were to do it again, I'd drop the coin for a nicer one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Little Digital Frame, December 1, 2010
This digital frame is easy to work with and looks fine. The most lengthy part of the project was choosing and loading 328 photos onto a card, but once you pop the card in, you can just sit back and watch the slide show. We bought two as gifts, but we like them so much now we want one for ourselves!

The frame came with bubbles in the screen so it had to be returned. I was given a full refund but ended up buying a different frame.

The NIX N' EASY X08A is a new frame from NIX for those who want a straightforward and easy to use frame that does not compromise on the integrity of a high quality, hi resolution SVGA LCD Screen with LED back lighting. Importantly the frame will also play your MPEG-4 / .AVI video, JPEG photos and MP3 music. Additional features include an auto rotate sensor that flips your photos 90 degrees when you physically rotate the frame. This optimizes the use of the screen for your portrait (vertical) photos. Also featuring is the new split screen display function that will display up to four of your photos on the screen at the same time. Last but not least, the slim profile design, intuitive finger toggle control on the back and the fold away stand makes for an elegant and simple frame. The X08A now also sports the new 'Combo' feature that allows you to place specifically chosen images and music together in a single folder, thus allowing you to essentially create a specific soundtrack for a specific slide show.Ideal for showing off that holiday you just got back from!Remember that connecting the frame to external speakers via the audio jack allows for an even richer sound experience. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The NIX X08A vs. the NIX X07B (and other 7" frames), April 12, 2010
Amazon's introductory prices for these NIX digital frames were enough in themselves to catch my attention. I started with the 7" model and, though my expectations were not high, sensed that the combination of the extra wide dimensions (necessitating constant repositioning of the frame) and lackluster resolution would result in my finding little if any use for the frame. NIX customer support was so helpful that I decided to stay with the brand but to move up to this 8" model. It's all the difference in the world and well worth the extra expense. First, the 4:3 dimensions of this frame assure that you can load it, start it, and forget it. No need to turn the frame on its long end to fill the frame for every vertically-oriented image. Even with auto rotation and split screen features, the extra wide (16:9) screens, or aspect ratios, of the lower-priced NIX and some of the other "stretched" frames introduce problems because of the different orientations of shots and the cropped or distorted shapes that frequently ensue upon tweaking an image to fill a frame. But there's more . . .

The picture of the 8" model, I'm convinced, has sharper definition and brighter, more pleasing colors--very close, if not equal, to a high-definition computer screen. Additionally, the slide show and transitions are performing more consistently, with the photos even showing more regularly in their correct--horizontal or vertical--orientation. And the size of the frame is such that a vertical photo, even though appearing in a frame that's slightly wider than it is high, does not look disproportionate. In fact, with this frame it's highly unlikely you'll turn the frame vertically to activate its "automatic orientation" feature. Finally, unlike the XO7B, which comes with a quick set-up sheet, the XO8A comes with a more informative and complete little booklet, including a trouble-shooting section (the instructions are perhaps less clear than those with the 7" model, but the frame is practically "plug and play," not requiring close examination of the manual. (If you do any tweaking, I'd recommend trying the automatic "crop" feature. It may reduce some of the area of your photos, but it won't distort or diminish size, consequently making it all the easier to keep the frame in a single, fixed position. I'm so satisfied with what this frame does for the photos taken with my Canon Elf (SD-780), I haven't even bothered to try out the video and music features. Frankly, they're not the reason I was in the market for a digital frame.

For either frame, it would undoubtedly be a good idea for many purchasers to order an inexpensive 2 GB flash card at the same time and to "dedicate" it exclusively for use in the frame (try to avoid the apparent "bundled" deal, which could cost you extra in postage. Instead, enter the item in "search" and order it from Amazon Prime, which offers a nice Kingston card for about five dollars). Finally, before calling or writing the company about a missing back-rest for this frame, notice that, unlike the 7" model (which employs a separate, detachable plastic piece), this 8" model has a handier, embedded telescoping silver rod. Simply use your thumbnail to pull it out of the back of the frame and you'll find it plenty sturdy for this lightweight frame.

Just a couple of caveats: First, the generally well-equipped audiophile is unlikely to make much use (if any) of the built in speakers and MP3 player. Second, the cost to the company of these added, perhaps mostly unused, features is likely reflected in the price. In that case, better the extra features were eliminated altogether or their expense devoted to the one feature that every user would certainly find most useful of all--a rechargeable battery, enabling cordless operation. These frames are currently undergoing rapid changes on the part of all manufacturers, so expect to see more cordless models, more onboard memory with convenient computer interfacing, and lower prices in the near future. But as anyone who has acquired any consumer technology in the last ten years knows all too well, such obsolescence goes with the territory (no longer is it a wise idea to spend a thousand or more on a TV set--these are not appreciating assets--in fact, quite the contrary).

RE: NIX Customer Support: I sent an e-mail with questions related to this model as well as a couple of others. The response was swift, extremely detailed, entirely personal (not an automated response), and very informative and helpful. (By contrast, Logitech offered to replace an entire keyboard with a bad key providing I e-mailed proof of purchase. I was extremely impressed and pleased, since I had hoped for, at most, a single replacement key. However, despite my 3 attempts to mail them my Amazon invoice--everything from a Jpeg to PDF to screen shot--I received the automatic response: "Your requested evidence of purchase is inadequate. Use a different format." If that's a company's version of "customer service," I'd rather receive service from another company, or no service at all, rather that repeatedly feel like someone is jerking my chain.)]

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent for price with room for improvement, July 8, 2010
I was looking for a digital frame for my husbands office and decided on the NIX x08A frame based on the affordable price. It was $10 dollars less than a Kodak digital photo frame (Kodak Easyshare P730m) with the added capability of playing videos and music.

    Pros:
    - Frame was delivered super fast (two days) and shipping was free.
    - Setups between two frames is fairly easy when using a usb flash drive. The NIX does have a remote which helps to keep fingerprints off frame. The Kodak menu is a bit more sophisticated and pretty to look at.
    - I like the built in frame stand on the NIX.
-Sound is decent when playing videos. Did not try playing music on this frame.

    Cons:
-The screen quality was not as vibrant as the Kodak EasyShare. I tried adjusting the contrast and brightness but the Kodak frame was just superior straight out of box.
-The buttons on the back of frame is a bit sticky and I had to push really hard before it responded.
    - USB flash drive not hidden by frame. I used a 1" flash drive and it was still visible from the front of frame.

Overall, the frame is decent for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Value and Crisp Image Toooo!, April 7, 2010
Quite simple really, if you want a straight forward frame that works straight out of the box and does the following:

    -Crisp hi-res image
    -Plays photo, video and sound/music
-Can play your photos in random order
    -looks good
    -very very easy to use

then this frame ticks the boxes. I really like the split screen function as well (well actually my daughter does). I also like that the stand folds away back inside the frame so you can't lose it. I would write a more detailed review, but the frame seems quite straight forward as advertised so need for many words.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great digital picture frame value!, May 27, 2010
Wonderful little frame. Lot's of storage space and display options.

    5 stars if it had:
    - Built-in Wifi (Someday this will be the standard on all frames!)
    - The ability to play music AND show slideshow (does one OR the other)

Remote control works well, but isn't well laid out.

Overall, is a great value for the price! Does the job and looks great!

BTW, seller is quick and product arrived nicely packaged and in perfect shape.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice quality digital photo frame, December 7, 2010
Nice looking Digital Photo Frame. It works well and has simple instructions. I located it by searching for battery operated photo frames & this one came up. The picture of the reverse of the product does not show a power cord & there is no mention in the description. This was for a gift to be sent to the United Kingdom. It works well but I had to purchase a wall adapted as this frame is not battery operated!

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely the best frame I've seen., July 25, 2010
Purchased this photo frame after reading many reviews and purchasing one at an electronics store. The one from the store was a great deal with 2GB memory, but when turned sideways, it wouldn't turn the photos to portrait. That's really why I purchased this frame. It was a gift for my boyfriend who is a photographer and needed a place to show off all the awesome photos he's taken. I ended up buying a fairly inexpensive 16GB card for this frame and now he gets all the storage he needs. This frame only has an SD card holder.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice digital frame at a really nice price, April 30, 2010
I really like the picture quality on the Nix frame. The split screen feature is really nice. The modern styling is very attractive and very appropriate. Somehow a changing digital photo in a wooden frame is disconcerting, kind of like wood trim on station wagon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Digital Frame, December 4, 2010
This product is really attractive and I like it very much. The only negative that I have found is that the surface shows dust and prints easily. It works very well and the picture quality is excellent. I also like the different screen picture change processes.

5-0 out of 5 stars NIX N' EASY PHOTO FRAME, November 2, 2010
Very pleased with this product. Purchased it for a birthday gift. Have loaded a slideshow to it as part of the gift. The entire process was pretty easy. Used Smilebox for the slideshow. Had to change from M4a to MP3 format for the music, but that was pretty simple. This product does not have internal memory, which is not a problem for me. I'm hoping the birthday girl will have as much fun with it as I have. I'm thinking about purchasing more for gifts.

2-0 out of 5 stars Quality Control problem, August 21, 2010
I received it this morning and after opening I noticed that the screen bezel/frame was not seated properly. The screen itself had a scratch internally. After connecting and switching it on I realized that the frame does not have any internal memory. Connected a SD card with photos and the display looked good. The remote supplied was useless as most of the buttons were not working even at a very close range. Overall, a bad quality product in my opinion and not worth the buy. This is going back to amazon right away! I purchased a Pan digital 7" inch frame (7000DW - same resolution) to replace this and I'm pretty happy with that.
